A.M. Strauss (1895-1958), architect of the Auburn Cutomobile Company Administration Building in Auburn, Indiana, in 1929, used popular art deco designs of the day to create the exterior and interior of the building. Today, it is the home of the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum where these art deco features can be appreciated. Strauss's ceiling plaster ornamentation, created in a bas relief method, graces every ceiling beam in the museum's main showroom gallery. The dimensional and beautifully painted plaster borders fill the spacious salon-like space--a grand environment in its day to display automobiles, as it is today.

These lovely earrings are interpretations of the museum's ornate ceiling plasterwork: it's repetitive art deco leaf and scroll design. Decorative plasterwork incorporating a broadleaf jungle-like motif can be seen in the gallery columns and capitals--all meticulously drawn by architect Strauss. 1930s art deco style, elegance and sophistication are captured in these gallery-inspired earrings, uniquely crafted for the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum by D. Howell and Associates, an aclaimed jewelry designer who works exclusively with museums across the country.
